Concord police reported today that on Jan. 24, 2015, at approximately 12:40 p.m., police responded to Market Basket, located at 80 Storrs Street, for the report of a theft.
According to the report: "Upon arrival police were told that the suspect had already fled from the area. Police were told by a Market Basket employee that a female subject had just stolen a pack of cigarettes from the cigarette area that is closed to customers. The employee recognized the female as the same individual that had stolen cigarettes from the store on a previous occasion.
"A manager exited the store in an attempt to stop the subject
at which time he observed her walking on the sidewalk towards Sal's Pizza. The manager reported that he asked the female
to come back to the store, at which time she ran away.
"The video footage shows a white female with long dark hair enter Market Basket and proceeded to the cigarette area that is closed to customers. The female can be seen grabbing a pack of cigarettes and putting them in her white shoulder bag. She is then seen walking over to the liquor area, grabbing a single bottle of Twisted Tea and putting it into her purse. The female then exits the store."
In addition, police reviewed video footage from a Jan. 17 theft, which allegedly captures the same female with her hair down entering Market Basket.
"On this occasion she walks over to the liquor area and grabs a single bottle of Twisted Tea. Once she puts the bottle into her purse she walks over to the cigarette area and puts a pack of cigarettes into the same white shoulder bag. The footage then shows the female exiting the store without paying for either item," the report said.
