The leaves have turned and are canvassing our lawn and streets with their beautiful colors. We've already carved our pumpkins and gone trick-or-treating. Fall is quickly coming to a close as holiday music and commercials begin to flood our radios and television screens. As the seasons begin to change once again, we reflect back on some of the fun we had last month.

We searched far and wide for some well-known corn mazes in the area, along with some hidden gems. Below are five family-friendly spots to consider for next year.

Beans & Greens Farm - Gilford, NH

Information subject to change in 2015, this year, the corn maze was designed for difficulty.

"Challenge yourself and your friends to riddles, a treasure hunt and just plain 'finding your way out' of this year’s maze," according to the website. "Come at night for extra heart thumping thrills and challenges (reservations are required for all nights)!"

In 2014, day rates for adults were $7, and for children were $5. Night rates were $9 for adults and $7 for children (children considered 12 and under). Night hours are every Friday and Saturday. Reservations can be made at 603-293-2853 (appreciated for groups larger than 20, as well). Weather-related closings can be found on the Facebook page. Anyone under the age of 17 must be supervised by an adult.

Walpole Corn Maze - Walpole, NH

Due to scheduling conflicts, Walpole was closed in 2014, but the venue is reporting it will be back for 2015, with a brand-new, expanded version, which includes additional haunted venues. Each year, the corn maze hosts Haunted Walpole Weekend just before Halloween, with performances by the Walpole Players and The Walpole Village School.

The Dark Crop Haunted Corn Maze at Lavoie's Farm - Hollis, NH

Dark Crop features a kiddie maze, as well as a full-scale, haunted maze. It was open 12 nights in 2014 and generally runs the entire month of October. Refreshments are available in addition to the corn maze and pumpkin patch. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. VIP ticketing is available to move to the front of the line for an additional $5. Tickets can be purchased online, or for cash or check on site.

Opening every year on Aug. 1, the farm picks themes for its corn mazes. This year, the themes were Greek to Me!, Snack Attack, and A-mazing Americana.

"A brochure is provided for each maze with questions to answer (answers are hidden in the mazes) and items to find related to the theme," according to the website.

The mazes are approximately 4 acres in size and take about 40 minutes to find all the answers. "Great entertainment for the entire family!"

Mazes are open daily, weather permitting – 11 a.m. to dusk from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31. Mazes cost $6 per person per day for one maze or all three mazes. Children 3 years old and under are free.
