Mythos: A Photographic Exploration

Mythos: A Photographic Exploration, by photographer Jean Stimmell, will be on view at the Concord Chamber of Commerce from January 4 through March 1. The exhibit is a labor of love for Stimmell combining his deep rooted interests in photography, myth, nature, and psychology. “MYTHOS strives to move us beyond the empty words and electronic images preached by our modern gods, science and technology. MYTHOS aims to free us from our world of illusion by reconnecting us to nature, our dreams, and the place art comes from. MYTHOS wants to remind us of what indigenous people have always known: that nature is speaking through us all the time, if we would only stop and listen." - Jean Stimmell Jean Stimmell is a NH Art Association member with a life-long addiction to photography, building his first darkroom at 13 in his parent’s basement. He finished college after a sabbatical in Vietnam and then embarked on a 20-year career as a stonemason and activist, doing freelance writing and photography on the side. After getting a graduate degree from Antioch University, he ventured into a new profession as a psychotherapist, a trade he still practices part-time.
