Poetry Society of New Hampshire - Alice Fogel & Patrice Pinette
The Poetry Society of New Hampshire meets at Gibson's Bookstore on the third Wednesday of every month. Our headliners this month are Alice Fogel and Patrice Pinette. An open mic follows their readings (arrive early to ensure a spot on the sign-up sheet). All are welcome, newcomers are encouraged!
Alice Fogel is NH's State Poet Laureate. In addition to Strange Terrain, a guide to helping people appreciate poetry without necessarily "getting" it, she is the author of three poetry collections, including Be That Empty, a national poetry bestseller. A six-time Pushcart nominee and recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship, her poems appear in many journals and anthologies, including the Best American Poetry and Poet’s Choice. An adjunct at both Keene State and Landmark Colleges, she also teaches professional development, arts-in-schools, reading, and writing workshops through the NH Councils on the Arts and Humanities, as well as on her own. Her new book, Interval: Poems Based upon Bach's Goldberg Variations, won the Nicholas Schaffner Award for Music in Literature, and is forthcoming in 2015.
Patrice Pinette, inspired by alchemy between the arts, dances as well as writes poems, and has created poetry-pastels exhibited with the Visual Poetry Collective. Her poems appear in Northern New England Review; Adanna; Poetica; Evening Street Review; Smoky Quartz; Mischief, Caprice & Other Poetic Strategies, and New Hampshire Poets Showcase, among others. A teacher and tutor, she loves writing with teenagers; leads workshops for adults, and is an adjunct at Antioch University New England. She received her MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
This will be a memorable evening of poetry!
