Shakespeare In Hollywood
The Community Players of Concord, NH presents this Ken Ludwig farce, in which Shakespeare's most famous fairies, Puck and Oberon, are magically transported to a 1930's Hollywood film set, where their famous love potion creates mayhem.
The Community Players of Concord, NH presents this zany, chaotic and highly entertaining mash up by Ken Ludwig, author of Lend Me a Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo. It's 1934, and Shakespeare's most famous fairies, Puck and Oberon, have been magically transported from a mythical wood near Athens to the Warner Brothers' Hollywood set of Max Reinhardt's soon-to-be-classic film, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Smitten by the glitz and glamour of tinsel town, Oberon (the fairy king) and Puck (his mischievous and spritely servant) find themselves cast to play (who else?) themselves, alongside big-name co-stars of the day, including James Cagney, Dick Powell and others. As always, Puck can't resist playing pranks on mortals, and his love potion soon has blonde bombshells, movie moguls and arrogant "asses" tossed into loopy love triangles, transformations, and overall mayhem, with a heaping side of Shakespearean wit and farce.
